Captain Falcon is one of the most recognized characters in the Nintendo world. He has starred in the infamous F-Zero futuristic racing series among titles. However, one of his most well-known appearances is in the series of Super Smash Bros. His famous Falcon Punch and his famous “Show Your Moves” taunt can be recognized a mile away. However, Captain Falcon has many hidden strengths that are not recognized immediately.

For instance, in every game but Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Captain Falcon is the fastest character in the game. In Super Smash Bros Brawl, Sonic is the fastest character in the entire game. This trait can be used for a variety of purposes. With Captain Falcon’s intense speed, he can easily attack opponents before they can do anything themselves. This speed can overwhelm your opponent and make your attacks reach them without fail.

Another important trait of Captain Falcon is his Falcon Punch. The Falcon Punch is one of Falcon’s most recognized moves and his most powerful. It can do nearly 25% damage and can often kill any opponent with around 50% damage. Also, in Super Smash Bros Brawl, the move got a boost by being able to rotate at a 180 degree angle and to switch the direction completely. This can be done by holding the control stick back at the beginning of the move.

In conclusion, Captain Falcon is a key character in the Super Smash Bros. series. He boasts speed and power and a nice look all at the same time.

Having a “best of” list always leads to arguments. Especially when discussing something like video games. Everybody has their favorites and their as loyal to them as a dog is to its master. For this list, I am strictly just referring to pre-1990. This should be the definition of classic arcade gaming. It’s just like 60s rock n roll: They transformed oldies into classic rock. The 80s should go down as the most important in video game history.

So with that being said here is my very unofficial (it changes everyday) top 10 best classic arcade games of all time are:

No. 10) Pac-Man- The originator. The video game that even your grandmother heard of.

No. 9) Donkey Kong- Introduced the world to Mario. That alone should make it an institution.

No. Burgertime- The song by itself was worth the quarter it cost to play.

No. 7) Ghosts N Goblins- A game way ahead of its time. Added ambiance to the world of gaming.

No. 6) Outrun- The original car game. There’s been car games before and since. But this one is king. It has yet to be duplicated.

No. 5) Road Blasters- What’s better than a driving game? A driving game where you can shoot cars.

No. 4) Track and Field- The first ever button masher. Nearly lost an index finger to this one.

No. 3) Gauntlet- The cabinet was HUGE!! First game I ever saw where 4 players could play. To an 8 year old, it looked like a mini-cathedral.

No. 2) Contra- Before First person shooters ruled the gaming world, this was the shooter that everyone lined up for. The NES version got more credit, but if it wasn’t for the 30 lives code, the arcade version was far superior.

No. 1) Double Dragon- The only 80s arcade game that I have ever played where at times I couldn’t put a quarter in the slot because the machine was full.

Board games often cover a variety of bases on what it actually entails to play them. Some are focused on strategic movements and the chance element that dice rolling brings. Others focus on the trivia that is known by a player and sometimes on how quickly they can recall that trivia. There are a few board games out there, however, who focus more on the creative aspects that a player might have. In particular, there are a few games that test a player’s skill at drawing. This does sound daunting to some players who may feel that their artistic skills are not up to par. Usually, one of these games is more interested in how well a player can get their message across.

One of these games is Cranium, which actually tests players in a variety of areas. Cranium has the standard trivia and verbal questions that many games rely on, but it can also test not only the performance skills of a player, but also the artistic ones. With a typical game of Cranium, players will sometimes have to sketch out a certain word or phrase for teammates to guess. Sometimes, there are even restrictions on how they do this, such as drawing with one’s eyes closed, or having to draw the picture without ever picking the pencil up from the paper. This can present quite an obstacle, but the better a player knows how to convey a message, the more successful they will be.

Another incredibly popular drawing board game would be Pictionary. This game is devised around two teams moving around a board which is marked with different symbols, standing for different categories. The teams must draw certain phrases for their teammates to guess and the better the teams do with the drawing and guessing, the faster they proceed along the board. If the correct phrase is guessed before the specified time limit is up, that team gets to continue along the path. If the phrase is not guessed, the team must remain at the spot they are currently at and the game play passes to the next team.

Each time that something needs to be drawn, the pad and pencil is shuffled to the next player in the group. Everyone gets a chance to draw and this also helps the teams be a little more fair, as some players will be naturally more talented at drawing than others. The players all rotate drawing in between the teams and by making their way along the game board, one team will eventually reach the finish line and win the game. The game is considered to be a very popular choice for parties, with unlimited possibilities presenting themselves for the game, as every player will draw something differently than another.

Games which test the creativity of the players often experience a high popularity, as the players like to be challenged in ways that don’t necessarily test their random trivia knowledge. These games which want players to try things in a new way are highly accepted among groups and can be quite popular with parties. Drawing games, in particular, are often highly enjoyed even by people who do not feel that they have any special talent with sketching. Because of this, these games have had a long standing popularity.

Senet is the oldest game that has ever been discovered during excavations. First discovered when exploring the remains of the Predynastic Egyptian culture from around 3500 BC, Senet was very much a part of the Egyptian world by 1300 BC, when it began to become a feature painted on the walls of the grand tombs of the pyramids. It seems that Senet became a traditional part of spiritual life for the Egyptians as well, serving almost as a talisman for the treacherous journey in the afterlife. There is an element of luck in the game and this, when paired with the Egyptian belief in determinism, successful players were considered to have special protection granted to them by the gods. Many different Egyptians were often buried with their Senet boards among other objects and even in the famed Egyptian Book of the Dead, the game is given special attention.

The game, as far as archaeologists are able to determine, is a form of a race game. The board is a sequence of 30 squares which have been arranged into 3 different rows of 10 each. By the 13th Century, Go was a common game for the general public in Japan, which aided in its widespread universal appeal.

The 2 player game uses a number of white and black stones on a board marked with perpendicular lines. The object of the game is to place the stones on the board in such a way that unbreakable chains are made. The player who forms the most chains and successfully blocks their opponent from forming chains is declared the winner of the game. Both of these games have simple origins and simple rules, but are complex enough to have withstood the test of time. Senet was played for many thousands of years and Go is a game that is still commonly played today.

The second requirement step is being able to document glitches and bugs properly. You have to make it very simple for the developer/programmer to understand what is happening during the glitch. This way, when it comes time to fix the problem, they won’t have trouble locating it.

If you have a good attention for detail, and can document bugs/glitches properly and clearly, then you’re exactly what many companies are looking for in a video game tester.

If you’re unsure about your abilities, I urge you to test your abilities by playing more video games. However, don’t just play it for fun. I want you to play it like a video game tester would. Expand the horizon of your vision so that you notice all of the elements on the screen as you play the game. This may feel somewhat different than you normally play, but it is necessary to get the practice you need.

Once you have relaxed and have become “one” with the screen, be aware of all the things that are going on on-screen. See how things relate to each other and how one thing can cause another thing to happen. If you spot something peculiar, write it down and document it asap. Write down what happened to cause that abnormality and explain what you deem as problematic.

If you have no problem with these requirements, then you should definitely consider becoming a paid video game tester.

Agricola is an agricultural farming board game designed by Uwe Rosenberg, in the vein of the German-style strategy board games. Players control a plot of farmland, and compete to create the most balanced farm consisting of various types of vegetables and animals.

Agricola took the gaming world by storm when it was released at the Spiel convention in 2007, and won the Spiel des Jahres award for Best Complex Game in 2008. It has been consistently popular since then, and is still the second most popular board game out there, as measured by the popular board game website BoardGameGeek. It has even managed to take the number one spot away from Puerto Rico for a while.

The objective in Agricola is to build the best and most-balanced farm after 14 turns. You score the most points for having a farm with a big family and sturdy buildings, and efficiently using all your available farmland to plant vegetables and raise animals. This is not quite that simple to achieve however, since you start with just a farmer and his wife, with only a 2-room farmhouse, and there will be other players who are going to try to grab the resources to improve their own farms too!

In the 14 turns of gameplay, there are a number of actions that you can do to grow your farm. You can grab supplies of resources such as wood and clay, and agricultural resources such as vegetables, fish and animals to lay the foundations of your farm. You can also plough and sow your fields, or fence them up, or bake some bread to feed your family. You can also grow your family when the time is right.

Which action you choose (and when you choose it) will ultimately determine how successfully you grow your farm. However, it won’t be possible to choose an action whenever you want it. Once a player has taken a particular action, that action is no longer available till the next turn. So you will need to plan which actions are the most crucial for your strategy and focus on them, and you will also need to be flexible and alter your strategy in case the other players take an action you need. In addition, you can take a number of actions each turn equal to the number of family members you have, so a big family is crucial. But you’ll have to make sure you are able to house and feed those extra kids before you can grow your family.

The resource market in Agricola is also quite interesting. There are actions where you can grab resources such as building materials, food, vegetables and animals. These resources replenish each turn at a set rate, and can pile up if a player doesn’t grab them the previous turn. You could therefore wait for resources to pile up before you use an action to grab them. Or you could do the opposite and monopolize a resource market. For example, you could keep taking all the wood, and by doing so you would prevent the other players from building fences or wooden buildings. (You might also end up having too much wood, but that is beside the point…)

What makes Agricola such a great game is its endless replay value. Besides having the standard actions, each player also gets a random hand of occupations and minor improvements that they can play. These cards provide benefits that will impact how your play. For example, you might have a shepherd occupation that provides you with extra sheep, causing you to change your strategy to make sheep your primary source of food.

These occupation and minor improvement cards also perform another function that makes Agricola a game for everyone. If you want to play it as a family game with children, you can use the easy deck of cards which provides bonuses that are easy to grasp. You can use a more complex deck with more interesting effects for players with more gaming experience. Or you could use an interactive deck where players can benefit from other players’ actions or even steal resources from each other!

As mentioned above, Agricola has such a strong appeal because it can cater for playing groups of varying ages and gaming experience. The game is playable with 1 to 5 players, and games usually take about two hours, providing enough complexity without eating up too much of your time. It appears to be the best farming strategy game currently available, and deserves its spot as one of the most popular board games out there!

If you’re a YuGiOh player, you know the importance of having a large selection of good cards for your decks. Now, the most common choice for buying YuGiOh cards online is to buy singles so that you can craft your deck exactly the way you want it, and if all you’re doing is playing tournaments, that works fine.

However, if you like to play casually or if you do a mix of casual play and tournament play, just buying singles isn’t the best idea. If you build super powerful decks for casual play, no one will want to play with you if they don’t have a hope of winning. For those that were involved with home computers during the 1980′s, the Commodore brand was everywhere. The company burst on the scene, was the toast of the decade, and then seemed to vanish almost overnight. Where did Commodore come from, how’d they get so popular, and what happened to them?

The Early Years

Commodore made its name initially in the 1970′s making calculators. Commodore’s calculators were very successful until Texas Instruments entered the market and was able to sell calculators to the public for less money than it cost Commodore to make them. The company that would become Commodore actually started in Toronto in 1954 manufacturing Czechoslovakian designed typewriters and then adding machines. When typewriters manufactured in Japan became available at a cheaper price, Commodore turned to calculators.

Trying to recover from the infiltration of Texas Instrument calculators on their market, Commodore struggled to find their next niche. In the mid-to-late 1970′s, Commodore purchased a number of chip suppliers and entered the personal computer market, little did they know they were about to experience success they hadn’t thought possible. In 1977 Commodore launched the PET (Personal Electronic Transactor) and was officially a computer company from that point on. The PET was primarily placed and marketed to schools and was found to be durable and highly popular. The design did not lend itself to the home computer market mainly based on its lack of graphics and seemingly poor sound quality.

Prime Time

In 1981, Commodore rectified this with the launch of the Commodore VIC-20. The VIC-20 had a suggested retail price of $299 and was not limited in where it was for sale. Many computers of the time were available solely through distributorships, but Commodore made the VIC-20 available through normal retail outlets. Commodore aggressively marketed the VIC-20, even using William Shatner as a spokesman. The VIC-20′s tagline was “Why Buy Just A Video Game?” The aggressive marketing paid off and the VIC-20 became the first computer to have one million units shipped to customers. Over the life of the VIC-20, over 2.5 million units were sold.

Commodore’s most famous model, the Commodore 64, was introduced in 1982 and featured better sound and graphics capability than the VIC-20. The initial price was $599 which was significantly lower than most other 64K home computers on the market. In fact, Commodore’s slogan for the 64 was “You Can’t Buy A Better Computer At Twice The Price”. In 1983, in an effort to try and dominate the home computer market, Commodore drastically cut the price of both the VIC-20 and the Commodore 64. Soon this started a computer price war involving Commodore, Texas Instruments, Atari, and most smaller brands of computers. When the dust settled Commodore had shipped about 22 million Commodore 64′s making it the best selling computer of all time, driven Texas Instruments out of the home computer market, almost bankrupted Atari along with many smaller companies, and exhausted almost all of their own savings.

In dire financial straits following the mid 1980′s computer price war that they had started, Commodore refocused in the late 1980′s and purchased a small company called Amiga Corporation. Commodore brought the Amiga 1000 and its new 16-bit technology to the home computer market in 1985. The Amiga 1000 was marketed directly at its strengths which were much better sound and graphics capability. The initial price on the Amiga 1000 was $1295 and was the computer of choice for technology and gaming geeks of the time.

The End Is Near

Commodore then found themselves in legal trouble involving lawsuits back and forth between them and Atari Corp. which had since been purchased by Commodore’s original founder Jack Tramiel. By 1987, most lawsuits had been dropped or settled with Commodore coming out on the wrong side. The release of the Amiga 500 in 1987 found Commodore triumphing over Atari and outselling their popular ST model by a margin of 1.5 to 1. After a number of adjustments in the home computer market, including the rise of Apple and the PC (both IBM and its clones), along with Commodore removing its line of computers from retailers and making them only available through distributors, and Commodore’s stance that they would no longer pursue mass marketing campaigns, Commodore found themselves languishing at or near the bottom of major computer companies. 1994 would find Commodore only operating profitably in the UK and Germany and eventually filing for bankruptcy.

After bankruptcy, the Commodore and Amiga brand names would change hands numerous times with a number of companies marketing the next model of computer or peripheral unit under this already established name. The name though would never again see the success it saw in the 1980′s when everyone had to have the Commodore 64.
